Having a baby means different things to different people. Some have the luxury to plan at what age birthing will be the best for them. Others such as my wife Ilene and I, who were diagnosed as infertile, could not.

Like you, we had to work hard for a child. But through the heart wrenching days and nights, our health care providers always gave us hope. We were fortunate, with modern technology and medications, our beautiful Jessica was born.

We know what it is like to get the questions of friends and relatives as to... "when you are going to have children?" And while not all dreams can come true, at Dobbs Ferry Pharmacy we were there... we know... we care... and are always here for your support.

Dear Bruce,

I am writing to you because yesterday I received some very important news. I was sitting at my desk at work and received a call from my wife Maria. She was calling to inform me that she had just come from visiting the pharmacy where we would be obtaining the prescriptions to aid us throughout the process of IVF. I like to receive progress reports whenever she goes to the doctor's office and just like any other time, she called me with an update. However, unlike other times, there was an air of excitement in her voice and she proceeded to tell me that her insurance carrier would be fitting most of the bill that goes along with the medications we needed! Now if that is not good news, I do not know what is.

There was one other thing.

We have gone into this process aware and understanding of the fact that this is an expensive procedure for people of modest income like ourselves. The money does not matter though, our future children do. We would have been more than willing to pay the full amount for the prescriptions, but because you cared enough to ask and double check whether or not Maria's insurance would cover the medications, we wound up paying a fraction of the price. For this I think you.

From what I have heard, you are a kind and compassionate man who fervently believes and supports the cause of others who are pursuing unconventional methods of child bearing. As you know, the only way to arrive at the point of IVF is by means of an arduous and stressful journey. Not being able to bear children is both emotionally and physically taxing. Maria was so affected by your compassion and desire to help, she told me she was brought to tears. For this I thank you even more, for being kind to my wife and making her happy. I'm sorry I couldn't have been there to meet you in person, perhaps another time.

Sincerely,
Jason Emerson
