Doctor of Acupuncture (RI), Clinic Director
It
has always been my earnest desire to help every person
become the best that they can be; physically and spiritually.
I have found that acupuncture and herbal medicine enables
me to successfully fulfill this desire.
I originally became interested
in Women's health as a specialty when, as an intern, I
had a patient with life altering pain as a result of endometriosis.
She regularly missed one to two weeks of work monthly,
and was hospitalized regularly for pain and bleeding.
She had three laparoscopies. Analgesics
did not help. She lived in constant misery.
I began my treatment protocol utilizing
acupuncture and customized herbal formulae. Within one
month of treatment she experienced minor pain only. Within
three months, her pain completely subsided.
From this moment on I knew that
I wanted to study and treat gynecological pathology.
My history in medicine
I have had a fascination with anatomy,
physiology and pathology since I was a young boy.
While in college I studied biology,
cultural anthropology and several languages.
I studied martial arts with a Shaolin
monk from China. In addition to his martial arts acumen,
he was also a master of qi-gong and of Chinese herbal
medicine. I was amazed when I witnessed him heal shattered
bones in a matter of weeks; eliminate anemia, menopausal
symptoms, headaches, anxiety, and other debilitating pathologies.
It was at this point that I became enamored with Chinese
medicine and intent on pursuing this modality of health
care.
I enrolled at Pacific College of
Oriental Medicine in New York City for three intensive
years. It was clear to me, however, that I would need
further study with Masters in China before I would feel
content to begin my clinical work here.
Immediately after graduating, I
traveled to Lhasa, Tibet; where I studied internal medicine
for several months with a physician of the classical Tibetan
style. I then traveled to Chengdu, Sichuan Province, in
China where I attended Chengdu University of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. This medical school is analogous to
an Ivy League medical school here.
I studied, for nearly a year, at
the Ph.D. level; an unheard of honor for Westerners. I
engaged in intensive hospital and academic course-work
in gynecology and internal medicine.
Since my return from China I have
maintained a busy private practice, specializing in various
fields of gynecology. I have also worked at various clinics
and hospitals in the New York Metropolitan area. Additionally,
I have been a professor at the Pacific College of Oriental
Medicine for the last seven years.
For the last several years, I have
been pleased to join forces with my classmate and old
friend, Dr. Mike Berkley, at The Berkley Center for Reproductive
Wellness & Women's Health. I look forward to continuing
our relationship, as we combine our respective skills
and expertise to offer patients the crème de la crème
in alternative reproductive care and women's health. I
am endlessly encouraged and inspired by the excellent
results that we see consistently in treating infertility.
