Acupuncture on Embryo Transfer Day
A practitioner from our office
can be available to provide onsite acupuncture services on the
day of embryo transfer. Contact our office on the day of your
egg retrieval or when you have a tentative transfer date and time
so we can schedule this. Be sure that your RE and his scheduling
staff are aware that you will be receiving acupuncture so that
a room and an adequate amount of time are made available for you.
The treatments last approximately
one hour each and are performed immediately before and after the
transfer.
If your RE is performing a
fluid ultrasound-guided transfer, you will be able to sip water
throughout the first treatment. It may be useful to bring a water
bottle and straw for easier access.
Acupuncture After Embryo
Transfer
Many women receiving acupuncture
as an adjunct to IVF tend to think that once the transfer day
is over, acupuncture is no longer useful. In our experience, women
who continue treatments after embryo transfer (preferably throughout
the first trimester) have higher ongoing pregnancy rates. Research
demonstrates that acupuncture should also be considered for alleviating
the discomforts often associated with pregnancies, including morning
sickness and fatigue.1 And don't forget about acupuncture
when it comes close to your delivery date for pain relief, labor
induction, hypertension, etc.2
The fee for on-site pre and
post embryo transfer acupuncture treatment is $250.00 per treatment
payable at the time your appointment is scheduled.
